People walking on rainbow street for Pride Month

celebrating Pride Month at Banfield

Since 2018, Banfield’s diversity resource group (DRG), Banfield Pride, has been elevating the LGBTQ+ veterinary community by creating safe spaces for support. One of the ways they do this is by developing industry and internal partnerships and events that promote networking and education.

For Pride 2023, Banfield is excited to host several events for our associates, including Storytime with a Queen — a reading event with popular Portland entertainer Poison Waters — and a community walk to encourage health and wellbeing.

Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity are integral to living out our purpose: A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS. Under our EI&D Strategy we strive to have our workforce reflect the communities we serve, and where all our associates can be themselves and do their best work together. In 2020, we began offering our associates the opportunity to share their pronouns on their badges, and we started implementing gender neutral bathrooms. It’s important to live up to our EI+D commitment to our associates and clients.

We interviewed Randall Hite, Regional Risk Manager at Banfield, about what it’s like being a part of Pride DRG.

How do you lead with Pride?
I take as many opportunities as possible to share about myself to open the door to conversation so others know I’m a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

What has been your proudest moment or best experience being part of the Pride DRG?
I have only been a part of the Pride DRG for a short time and have felt so welcome and engaged to be in the presence of individuals that celebrate US! I am honored to have worked on some projects that will debut during Pride Month!

What would you like other Associates to know about the Pride DRG and why should they join it or another DRG?
Pride DRG brings awareness of the LBGQT+ community and helps educate. This DRG is amazing at being inclusive and ensuring you’re comfortable with what YOU want to contribute.
