At Banfield Pet Hospital, we strive every day to use our resources, reach and relationships to improve the well-being of pets, communities, our associates and the veterinary profession. We are proud to share 2015 brought great gains in all of these areas across our growing network of more than 925 hospitals in the United States and Puerto Rico. In our second annual Corporate Social Responsibility report, we’ve highlighted programs and stories that made a difference in the lives of pets and pet owners who are most in need of help.
Stories like Army veteran Randy whose dog received vaccines at one of our preventive care clinics for vulnerable veterans and Charlie, the cat whose life was saved by our HOPE Funds program after eating 35 inches of string. This year also saw the launch of the Banfield Foundation, which distributed close to $600,000 in grants to nonprofits, in only its first four months as our charitable arm. We were also there for the unexpected, providing direct assistance to impacted pets in the wake of natural disasters like flooding in South Carolina and wildfires in California.
