When Hurricane Florence made landfall in mid-September in North Carolina, the Category 1 hurricane left a path of destruction, causing unprecedented flooding and power-loss; leaving people and pets across the state without food, shelter or care. As part of our overall commitment to communities across the nation, Banfield and the Banfield Foundation® share a mission of serving the pets impacted by disasters like Florence. Banfield associates immediately began volunteering at the local fairgrounds where displaced pets were being housed, helping to ensure critical supplies and veterinary care were made available to hundreds of pets caught in the aftermath.
"There is a lot of beauty to be found amidst devastation and tragedy," shared Banfield Practice Manager Jessica Hubbard. "The way people come together from all different backgrounds to help in any way they can is incredible. All of these pets were scared and had been through something unimaginable, and they trusted the volunteers to love them and help them."
In addition, Banfield’s charitable arm, the Banfield Foundation, has awarded $45,000 in Disaster Relief Grants so far to nonprofit organizations in the North Carolina community to help impacted shelters care for displaced pets. Grants like these are made possible by the generous donations of Banfield clients at PIN pads proving that once again, together, we can make a better world for pets!
