Vancouver, WA July 25, 2022
VANCOUVER, Wash., July 25, 2022 – Banfield Pet Hospital – the nation’s leading provider of preventive veterinary care and part of the Mars Veterinary Health family of practices – named Mony Iyer as president and Jeff Ellison as chief operating officer (COO). Former Banfield president Brian Garish was appointed president of Mars Veterinary Health International.
Mony has over 17 years of experience driving strategy and operational effectiveness. Prior to his role as president, Mony served as Banfield’s COO for nearly two years, during which he led the creation and rollout of new modes of care; drove a hospital-first culture to ensure the practice met and exceeded the needs of hospital Associates and clients; and led the transformation of the practice’s IT organization.
"I have been so impressed with how Banfield has grown in size, scale and impact thanks to the hard work and dedication of our incredible hospital teams,” said Mony Iyer, president of Banfield Pet Hospital. “I look forward to driving innovation and hospital-centricity in this new role while prioritizing issues that matter for pets and the people that care for them. Veterinary care is driven by a purpose like no other and we will continue to put the needs and voices of Banfield Associates at the forefront.”
Jeff steps into the role of COO after 13 years with Banfield, during which he was instrumental in growing the organization to over 1,000 hospitals nationwide and driving operational improvements and efficiencies across the practice. This includes strengthening Banfield’s field leadership organization overseeing the practice’s nearly 20,000 Associates and rolling out certified veterinary technician (CVT) appointments, with Banfield reaching nearly 1 million CVT appointments this year.
“Having spent more than a decade in Banfield hospitals working directly with our veterinary teams, I have seen and heard first-hand what’s working for our Associates and clients and where there are opportunities to grow and improve,” said Jeff Ellison, chief operating officer of Banfield. “I look forward to applying my knowledge of the veterinary profession, drive for results, and passion for developing talent to ensure we continue to provide high-quality care to the growing number of pets across the U.S.”
Brian joined Banfield in 2015 as Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer, becoming president of the practice in 2017. During Brian’s tenure, he built an Associate-centered culture that propelled revenue growth. Recognizing the intersection of pet health and societal wellbeing, Brian positioned Banfield as first mover on a range of initiatives from student debt relief for veterinarians to creating educational pathways and prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
“As I reflect on my time with Banfield, I’m incredibly proud of the work the practice has accomplished and confident the current leadership team will continue to drive impact for our people, the profession and communities,” said Brian Garish, president of Mars Veterinary Health International. “I’m thrilled to join the Mars Veterinary Health team and work together with our family of practices towards a shared purpose: A Better World for Pets.”
