Cherika Ponds, DVM

Dr. Cherika Ponds is a Charlotte, North Carolina, native. She was born and raised in the Queen City, where she completed her undergraduate education at North Carolina A&T State University in 2004. In 2008, she graduated from Tuskegee University with her doctor of veterinary medicine. Before returning to her hometown, Dr. Ponds interned with Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Eaton Town, New Jersey. In 2009, Dr. Ponds began her career with Banfield by working at multiple hospital locations, giving her the opportunity to reach many different clients and work with various wonderful professionals. Her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is educating others about nutrition, geriatrics, and preventive medicine. Outside the hospital, Dr. Ponds cares for her own crew of pets, including dogs Bricks, BamBam, Tallulah, and Honcho, and cats Mr. Harry Walter, Sylvester, and Nylah. Not to mention the many chickens! Her personal interests include spending time at the beach or mountains—anything nature-oriented!
