Elizabeth Dale
I have lived in Blacksburg, Virginia for the past eight years, just recently moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. I completed both undergraduate and doctorate at Virginia Tech. While in school, I worked as a research assistant in the investigation of the molecular basis of the magnetic compass, focusing on a newly discovered class of photopigment molecules (cryptochromes) believed to play a role in a photoreceptor-based magnetic compass. I have a strong interest in research and figuring out why things do what they do. I love small mammals, especially rats! My favorite animal is an elephant, so much that I volunteered at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand. I enjoy horseback riding in my free time, whether it be barrel racing, western pleasure or trail riding - I love it all! I have special interest in exotic medicine, surgery, and toxicology.
