A 2017 suma cum laude graduate of North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Melissa Lehman is especially invested in the human-animal bond, and enjoys working with pet owners to ensure exceptional care for their four legged friends. Her topics of interest include dermatology, endocrinology, and surgery. She also enjoys seeing certain small exotic animals such as guinea pigs and hamsters in select cases, and provides regular care for the PetSmart pocket pets. In her free time, Dr. Lehman loves cooking international recipes. She also enjoys many outdoor activities like tennis, hiking, swimming, snorkeling, and paddle boarding. In early 2019, Dr. Lehman began learning Spanish to better serve her patients, and discovered her passion for languages. She has since become fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, and has recently taken up French. This ties in with her love for traveling and learning about other cultures and societies. Dr. Lehman lives with her husband, an anesthesiology resident at UAB, and their 15-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
