Nicholas Counsell, DVM

Born and raised in Western Washington, Dr. Counsell attended Washington State University for his undergraduate degree in zoology, graduating in 2009. He spent a field season collecting data on grizzly bears for the Interagency Bear Study team in Yellowstone National Park before veterinary school. He then returned to WSU and received his doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2013. Dr. Counsell has been with Banfield since 2014, and transferred to the Bellingham location in 2015 to be closer to his wife, who is also a veterinarian. He has a special fondness for Golden Retrievers, particularly since his parents named him after one, but also has a special spot for hounds of all sizes! He and his wife always have an assortment of dogs and cats at home.
