honoring our beloved pets when they must leave us
Losing your furry friend is hard, and having to make the choice of euthanasia can add an additional layer of heartache. As pet lovers and veterinary professionals, we know how painful it is to lose your pet, so we take careful steps to help with the process of saying goodbye.
In this blog, we’ll go over how we help you and your pet through this life transition.
How to know when it's time
It’s tough knowing when the right time is to say goodbye to your pet. It’s a hard decision that can cause confusion, fear, and guilt. Your vet is there to help guide you through this difficult decision. While they can’t make the decision for you, they can help assess your pet’s pain and comfort, explain what options you have and what to expect, and help you create a plan of action.
An important thing to consider is your pet’s quality of life. How is their appetite, breathing, demeanor, and energy? How much care does your pet require from you and your family? Do you know when you should seek emergency care for your pet? Help with these questions and more can be found here.
Our Associates are trained to guide you through the euthanasia process
Here are some of the steps we take to help you and your pet:
- Leading up to the appointment, we’re available to answer any of your questions about the process
- We can schedule the appointment based on your needs and help you pick a quiet time of day
- On the day of the appointment, we provide options for how you’d like to enter the building to help ensure your pet’s comfort
- We bring you into one of our comfort rooms equipped with tissues and soothing music and discuss next steps as well as answer any questions
- We place a sign in the hospital asking our Associates and guests to please keep the atmosphere quiet out of respect for your pet
- We illuminate a candle in honor of your sweet furry friend
We want you to feel assured that we are pet professionals who will provide respectful and comfortable care for your pet.
